| About to enter Tunnel 2 on Union Pacific's Mojave Subdivision, a short Amtrak business special with the "Phase I" Heritage P42DC as sole power heads north across the Tehachapi mountains toward Bakersfield and then to Modesto to overnight. Besides drumming up interest for additional Amtrak service in the San Joaquin valley, the train is ultimately heading to Sacramento for the VIP on board to participate in the delivery of the final Siemens ACS-64 electric locomotive for Amtrak. |
