When the Lehigh Valley was dissolved in 1976, its fleet of Alco C420’s was conveyed to the Delaware & Hudson, where it remained intact for over a decade. On the D&H, the fleet’s paint remained as varied and inconsistent as it was on the Valley. A few of the C420’s were repainted with the classic lightning stripe scheme, which they wore well.
