| A "Japanese" is leaving the 3071 meter long dead straight Perruca tunnel under the Pajares pass and reaches the highest point of the line with 1270 meter a.s.l. The large headlight of the 251 # 030 was visible since about 3 minutes. The train brought a load of steel coils from the ArcelorMittal work in Avilés up the 2.0 % of the Pajares ramp to Busdongo station, just south of the divide. The Perruca tunnel was opened in 1884 and the line is electrified since 1924 with 3000 V DC. |
