Remarks & Notes
The typical Pajares pass line locomotive "Japanese" 251 # 024 is pulling a southbound steel coils train from the ArcelorMittal Asturias work in Avilés through the valley of the Bernesga river near Villanueva de la Tercia, south of the Pajares pass. 4650 kW locomotive 251 # 024 was built by MACOSA in Spain in 1983, after a design of Mitsubishi. The first two locomotives of the series of 30 were built in Japan, the rest in Spain by CAF and MACOSA. The Pajares pass line in the iberian broad gauge of 1668 mm is electrified with 3000 V DC since 1924.
