Remarks & Notes
Pioneers

The first production stainless steel commuter cars were six Pioneer III cars built by Budd for the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1958. Here, two of those six cars, with their distinctive full pantographs are operating near the end of their service lives on the Reading side at North Wales, Pennsylvania. These two survive at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
