Remarks & Notes
Amtrak Empire Service train 283 rolls WB on what is normally CSX freight only trackage. Due to reconstruction of the Amtrak Hudson Line connection at CP-169, 4 Amtrak trains detoured over the Selkirk and Carman Subs between Hoffmans and Carman on Sunday. On the left is the CSX South Schenectady yard office trailer and CSX local power. The large white building on the left is the Price Chopper frozen foods warehouse and in the background left with the blue switcher is the Railex facility. In the far back with the signals is CP-SH and the track to the left is the Carman Sub that the Amtrak train just came down. I-90 is the far bridge over the tracks. From around 1972 until 1978 this was the main Amtrak route through this area when Penn Central took the passenger main from Hoffmans to Scotia out of service.

The GE Genesis series are well known for being Amtrak's locomotive. With confirmation of retirement from Amtrak themselves, their time is limited. Now is your chance to catch them before the chargers arrive!
