CSX manifest Q540 rolls north along the Clear Fork River. The L&N's route through the Cumberland Mountains is shared with this river and highway 25W, collectively making use of all the space available. It was just north of this spot in 1944 that a southbound troop train hit the first curve of the narrows and flew into the river, resulting in the deaths of 34 men, including the engineer.
