Remarks & Notes
The Sagebrush Shortline: On a clear February day, Nevada Northern Railway 4-6-0 No. 40 leads a short mixed train through the desolate Steptoe Valley. Built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1910, No. 40 was used in passenger service until 1941.After the railroad stopped running passenger trains, the locomotive was briefly used in freight service but it was later stored and only used on special excursions. Today it is one of two steam locomotives used by the Nevada Northern Railway Museum. This photo was taken during the museum's annual winter photo spectacular. For more information visit www.NNRy.com.

The American west is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful regions in the country. Rails rolling through wide open spaces.
