Remarks & Notes
Running errands in Springfield, I saw this westbound stuck by a train on the ICG at Starnes Tower. When I got back to Jacksonville, I knew - thanks to the fast running on the former Wabash line - that he probably would not be far behind me. I drove straight to the tracks, and could already hear him blowing for a farm road east of town. About that time, a fellow backs this welding machine into the empty lot and drops it. He had probably half an acre to choose from, but selected the spot right in front of me. My polite request that he consider another spot was answered with a silent glare, and a look (that all fans have gotten) of 'what in the world are doing, anyway?'.
