| A JR East series 485 EMU is running towards Kanazawa between Kajiyashiki and Uramoto on the former Hokuriku main line. After the opening of the Nagano - Kanazawa section of the Hokuriku shinkansen, these Shinetsu limited express services have been discontinued and part of the Hokuriku main line has been divided into smaller sections, which are operated by third-sector railway companies. Passengers, who wish to travel between Niigata and Kanazawa can take the Hokuriku shinkansen to Joetsu-Myoko, where they can transfer to or from the new Shirayuki limited express. |
