The daily freight between Superior, WI and Minneapolis 'rounds the corner and approaches the NP diamond at Hinkley, MN on Memorial Day weekend in 1970. The missing Rocky logo is a sign of the BN merger although the unit is still numbered for Great Northern. The other give away is the NP Geep. This became the main route between Duluth/Superior and the Twin Cities and the NP line was abandoned or partly sold off to a short line. Today the tower is gone, but trains of BNSF, CP, and UP still utilize the line. CN trains ran this route in the 1990s until they acquired Wisconsin Central.
