CFRC typically halts CSX traffic southbound on the A-Line at DeLand if they cannot make Taft by 0500, and that was the case today for the annual return of the James Strates carnival train, which was running as P923, but had to tie up in DeLand for a recrew. Otherwise, it would have been in too early for photos. This year's run followed Amtrak 91 south into the Orlando area, but last year they routed it via the S-Line to the west, taking the Lakeland route north into Taft (which is how this one was originally going to run). Having a strict 1000-1500 window to run freight with SunRail actually pays off sometimes! This is also the second year they have run without the coaches, which were essentially deemed unfit for long haul.
