A severe electrical storm has just passed, leaving blue sky and last light on a warm late June evening. This coal train sits at the highest point on the Canadian National Railway system, the Luscar Industrial Spur. This is the second of three 50 car sections of a train that will load coal at Teck's Cardinal River operation. The grade where the locomotives sit is 1.1%, but the empty rear of the train still hangs over the severe 3%....
