Conrail hosted an excursion for the Lexington Group, Inc. as part of their annual meeting which was held this year in Newark, NJ. The train was led by Bennett Levin's beautifully restored Pennsylvania Railroad E8s 5711 and 5809. The excursion toured a large part of Conrail's North Jersey Shared Assets operation. The train is seen idling in the center of Jamesburg where riders de-trained for a lunch break. This track was once part of the PRR Freehold Secondary. A cast iron whistle post installed by the PRR decades earlier completes the scene.
