Remarks & Notes
The last GWR design Castle class 4-6-0 to be built and named after its birth place, No 7037 Swindon waits to leave Swindon station with a local train for Bristol Temple Meads after a visit to the nearby workshops. It was built in 1950 and withdrawn for scrap less than 13 years later in 1963. Earlier members of the class introduced in 1923 such as Pendennis Castle lasted 40 years.
