Word on the street is CN has ceased all operations within the city of Toronto. With Metrolinx's purchase of most CN rail lines within the city, they have simply disappeared. However, the majority of Torontonians aren't nocturnal. The dark industrial history of Toronto still exists, albeit small. CN 543 makes its way to Mimico every night, and switches the industries there, and returns to Oakville. However, once a week, it continues east to the historic Port Lands, which once contained heavy industry and two bustling train yards, Don and Keating. There are only two customers left on the Port Lands Spur, and the dock sometimes brings in a dimensional load. Don is now in Metrolinx's hands, however the Mimico section of 543 was knocked off at the now very small Keating Yard, so 543 would more easily switch Ashbridge's. 4784 and 7038 are the power, dropping off three loaded chlorine tankers. 543 will take out three empties, reattach to the rest of its train at Keating, and return to Oakville. In the background is one of of the Port Lands many majestic incinerator stacks.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
