| Just after dawn the sun's rays cast a glow over the front motion of a 15th Class Garratt 422 sitting in the shed at Bulawayo Loco in May 1989, a shed that was full of engines in steam. At the time Garratts were being overhauled and returned back into service, freight trains and the International Express along with the Victoria Falls Mail were all steam hauled. The few remaining diesels that were able to operate were used on the heavy coal trains to the north from memory. |
