In the spring of 1977, Conrail instututed a run-through service between Allentown, PA, and Richmond, VA with the Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Potomac Railroad. A segment of the short-lived service was over the northeast corridor to Potomac Yard, where the train was turned over to the RF&P. Only cab-signal-equipped units were allowed to lead on former PRR mainline trackage, meaning that a dirty ex-PC unit usually lead, like this one shown getting up air in Allentown yard prior to its early evening departure.
Photographs where trains and people mix, weather it's street running, plant switching or carrying a unit grain train out of an elevator, it will be put here.
