On a crystal clear morning, four matching Union Pacific AC45CCTEs bring an empty Norma, WI bound rock sand train up through Edelstein, IL, milepost 60.71 on UP's seldom-used Peoria Subdivision. Once at the town of Nelson, this train will hop onto the far busier, and double-tracked, Geneva Subdivision to scoot eastbound toward Chicago where from there it will eventually head northwest out of the city and on to Wisconsin. I say seldom-used due to the fact that on real busy days, this line will do as good as 7-9 moves in a 24-hr period with somedays seeing absolutely no traffic. Also, this field's corn crop is looking quite good as the harvest season fast approaches.
