| The sun rises on a new era for the Lake State Railway as the first GP40-3/Road Slug set is readied for full-time service. Posed for PR photos on the company's business car track, Road Slug #303 - ex-LSRC GP38M-2 371 - and GP40-3 #4303 - ex-LSRC GP40M-3 1178 - are the first four-axle units to wear the new corporate scheme for the LSRC. Road Slug #303 was built as Detroit, Toledo & Ironton GP35 #351, while the GP40-3 #4303 was built as Chesapeake & Ohio GP40 3780. The pair are now in full system service on the LSRC and can be found replacing a pair of GP40s in various service. |
