Remarks & Notes
Among the hottest trains on Southern Railway were those given the designation Comar, for co-ordinated motor and rail. One of the Comar fleet, 223 had just four cars this day, so the power - a trio of U23Bs assisted by a single GP30 - was a little more than ample. 223 was flying, causing the agent to mishandle paperwork from engine crew. He is scrambling to catch it before it winds up underneath the speeding diesels.
