Remarks & Notes |
The highlight of today's 'Hadrian' was the exciting chase along the beautiful valley of the river Tyne made possible because the road and railway run in parallel for many miles. Sometimes they are alongside each other and sometimes (as here) across the other side of the valley. Getting ahead of the train without risking life and limb is the trick! A long telephoto has captured the pairing of Sir William Stanier's 'Black 5' and 'Jubilee' classes of 4-6-0, no doubt startling the horses and sheep who are used to the passage of quieter motive power! |
