| I was passing through Chicago on my way from a Navy school in South Carolina to my ship in Long Beach. In Union Station I saw an add for this trip and fortunately last minute tickets were available. This was a special on the CB&Q from Chicago to Savanna via Mendota and Denrock with the 4960 and 5632, returning from Savannah on the mainline with just the 5632. This is a runby near Mendota, before going on to the Denrock branch. Somebody who knows the territory told me the location is an interlocking plant called "the electrics". |
