The "Trans Natal", an overnight Johannesburg - Durban passenger train, headed by two Class 6E1 electric locomotives (in Spoornet "orange" livery), E1417 and E1321, crosses a mixed freight on the steep gradient at Boughton in Pietermaritzburg. This was one of the last workings of Class 6E1 locomotives on passenger trains, both in and out of Durban. They had already been removed from hauling freight on the Natal Main line about a year earlier.
An overnight economy class passenger train that runs between Johannesburg and Durban (and return) operated by Shosholoza Meyl / PRASA. In its hey day it was one of the most popular passenger trains operated by the South African Railways.
