The annual night run. The party is almost over, and most of the revelers are gone now. The folks who remain at the WW&F's annual Victorian Christmas event are primarily museum members, their families, a few locals, and a few die-hard fans. Every year, before putting their trains away for the winter, the museum folks typically make one last run to Alna Center....at night. In this shot, WW&F #10 runs around her consist at Sheepscot Station in preparation for that run. In the distance, you can see the red, kerosene-burning marker lamps on the two-coach consist. We're about to take a trip on a steam-powered train, in the dark woods of Maine, in an 1895-vintage Jackson and Sharp Coach, with nothing but oil lamps for interior lighting. There will be no radios or flashlights on this run. Our crew will use hand-signals, whistle signals, and old-fashioned lanterns to coordinate their activities. For the next 30 minutes or so, the die-hards will get just a very realistic taste of what rail transportation was like here in Maine 100 years ago.
