This image is one of twelve (12) in a double-page spread in the August 1985 issue of Trains Magazine. It was part of the cover story that month--"The CC&O Connection"---a piece I wrote on the history and operation of the Hagans Switchback--the only mainline switchback in the US (still in service today, too). Here, Extra 2720 South is at the top of the double switchback. The old main line via Cumberland Gap and Middlesboro, KY is the line coming in from the left. Notice the old L&N baggage-RPO in MofW service ahead of a rail pusher machine from a welded rail outfit.
