A steel wheel rolling along a steel rail is very efficient way to move heavy cargo. Here we see one of those wheels under a tank car, rolling along at about 40 miles per hour as BNSF Railway's Barstow to San Diego train, nicknamed the "Dego" by crews, winds its way through the northern end of Victorville, California, on December 15th, 2014.
All those shots of interesting railroad details, what you see trackside, up close and personal! Excludes shots going into my other albums: "Engine Details," "Signal Details," and "Switchstand Shots."
Pace and pan shots of trains from on the ground or in the air. If you're not in the locomotive cab or on-board the train, it's the next best thing to being there.
