Remarks & Notes
L&N Alco C430 2260 was on its fourth and last road number when photographed in yard service (with a slug built from an RS-3) at Corbin in 1980. The unit was built as Alco demonstrator 430-3 in 1967, but became SCL 1277. The unit (plus its two sister units) was leased to the L&N in April 1976, and then transferred in August of that year, where it became L&N 5602. It wasn't long before all three were renumbered one last time and placed into yard service at Corbin (after being wired to control the slug/booster units). You can see the lettering for the old road number still bleeding through. They were finally retired in 1981 and sold to Chrome Crankshaft.
