Remarks & Notes
Antique Poles

Preserved CC 6570 travels with a charter train on the Perpignan to Villefranche line that was initially electrified in 1912 with AC voltage 12 kV 16 2/3 Hz when the "Compagnie du Midi" railroad was pioneering electrifications and tested various technologies. This unique voltage was abandoned in 1971 and diesel trains replaced the antiquated electric engines. Electricity came back in newly installed catenary wires in 1984, with 1.5KV DC voltage. So as to save money, most of the old catenary poles were kept. Today, we can still see a diversity of antique poles such as the ones on this picture, a type that do not exist anywhere else in France but some hundred meters near Ille-sur-tęt.
