A nice matched trio of Santa Fe SD45's were pushing away on the rear of the joint DRGW-UP-ATSF Utah to Kaiser Steel coal train at Hesperia, CA. This train orginated on the Rio Grande then was forwarded to the Santa Fe at Barstow where a Santa Fe crew boarded for delivery to the Kaiser Steel pland in Fontana, CA.
Either a freight train being helped over a steep grade or a long passenger or freight train requiring more engines. This album includes Helpers and double heading trains of the old days both steam and diesel.
