Amtrak F40PHR's #328 and 325 lead New Orleans bound train #19 past 13th Street Tower (complete with train order signal). 325 and 328 were built in 1979. 13th Street Tower, in addition to being a train order office for Southern Railway trains, controlled the crossing of the Southern Railway and Louisville & Nashville mains. Southern Railway trains to/from New Orleans and Mobile passed by this location. Louisville & Nashville trains also to/from New Orleans and Mobile passed by here in addition to trains to/from Pensacola, Florida. In addition, Seaboard Coast Line trains using L&N trackage rights utilized these tracks to access the SCL Lineville Subdivision at Parkwood for trains to/from Waycross, GA and beyond. In addition, on the far left side of this photo behind the Amtrak train, the SCL branch to Elyton, Bessemer and Parkwood (former Atlantic Coast Line) utilized this area. The Parkwood Branch crossed over the Southern Railway tracks at Bessemer
