After doubling over the front of its train to clear the bottom junction switch, Extra 8204 South--a 90-car loaded unit coal train bound for Red Level Junction, Florida--is shoving upgrade to the middle leg of the Hagans Switchback. Of operational interest is the switch, which shows a green target for "normal," yet it's reversed. On any other switch, the target would be red in this position. Operating instructions of the time designated this switch be lined and locked for the switchback, rather than the Martin's Fork main line (the straight track--which heads around the curve and into Hagans Tunnel---and Kentucky). Therefore the green target indicates it was left lined and locked correctly. The switchback is all within yard limits, as defined by the rules.
