Middle Division Survivor: to an ex-PRR man, it will always be the Middle Division; and the legions of four-track wide signal bridges have become awfully sparse over the years. For now, this one near Barree remains above the active rails and the mouldering ties of the former Nos. 3 and 4 tracks of the old Broadway. Here NS 9639 East exits Spruce Creek valley and heads down the Barree straightline on an afternoon (and most of a week) of persistent overcast that caused me to question my thousand mile trip to the old home territory; yet a clear day would have made the sun angle here impossible, so perhaps things all work out for the best. The moody autumn scene certainly has its own appeal.
