Remarks & Notes
While my heart will always be with the Rio Grande's nifty fleet of GP30s, I did make an effort to photograph the GP40 and GP40-2 motors in local service. D&RGW 3101, 3111, and 3148 prepare to pull away from a train of 31 dolomite empties (and one grain hopper) to run around in Santaquin pass prior to shoving them to Geneva Steel's Keigley yard. The covered hopper would later be taken solo to Elberta further up the branch. The snowy flanks of 10,689 ft. Loafer Mountain are in the background. March 16, 1995
