A beautiful salar
Here is another rendition of a now famous location, the Carcote salt flats, with an empty ore train going to Bolivia. The volcano in the background is the Cerro Chela: elevation 5648 m. / 18530 ft. The salar elevation is 3690 m. / 12106 ft, a difference of 1958 m. / 6424 ft. ! Note that the size of the Salar de Carcote is 108 km² / 41.7 mi² and that its lagunas are 3 to 4 km² / 740-990 acres / 13770-18360ft². |
