Remarks & Notes
Running over 30 minutes late, the westbound Cardinal is on jointed rail on the old C & O main line as it approaches the Blue Ridge Tunnel. The Afton siding usually serves as the meeting point for the east and west trains IF both are running close to schedule. This line once hosted C & O's premier passenger trains such as the George Washington, the Chessie and the Fast Flying Virginian.
