Remarks & Notes
This isn't a great shot, but it sure does bring back some memories. This was taken on a March 1967 day at Loyall, KY. The train led by four big GE six-motor units is a northbound Merna Turn headed toward Corbin during an afternoon snowfall. The overhead truss bridge in the right background is the old US 119 crossing of Cumberland River. This road crossing is known as Emerling on the railroad, but the section of the community to the right (out of the frame) is known as Rio Vista. Loyall was kind of my second home back then, and I visited my grandparents there frequently.
