Remarks & Notes
C17 class No.824 is on static display at the small country town of Injune, around 90km from the nearest operating railway. The branch from Roma to Injune opened in 1920, operating until 1966. In 1947 this locomotive was operating a picnic special on the Dayboro line when the train derailed, killing 16 and injuring 38 - still the largest loss of life in any Queensland railway accident to this day. The loco was repaired and returned to service before final withdrawal in 1967, when it was towed over the recently closed line to Injune to be placed in its final resting place. Observant readers will notice that I was in Injune in June.
