Canadian National's Peoria Local sails southbound through Emden, Illinois as the photographers long time friend, Rance Grieder gives a friendly wave. IC 1039, the last SD70 ordered by the Illinois Central Railroad and delivered in 1999, is leading this Sunday evening return leg of the local based out of Decatur, Illinois. An American Kestrel has just taken flight as Grieder and his charge head for home, on Sunday, June 30, 2014.
