| On this warm December day, Amtrak #5 is only a minute or so from plowing right through the snow-capped Rocky Mountains dominating scene. The train is approaching East Portal siding as seen from Tolland siding. I'm standing less than a mile from the locomotives, but it is over 1 rail mile, as the Denver & Salt Lake had to wind up the hill. |
