A run from St. Charles, VA has arrived at the junction at Appalachia with a loaded coal train. The conductor is lining the main line switch so the crew can back to the yard at Andover. The train on the right is one end of the Westmoreland Coal "dump train," that shuttled coal from the company's mine at Holton, VA to a prep plant at Wentz. In its latter day incarnation, the dump train had a unit on either end, with m.u. cables running the length of the train.
