Remarks & Notes 
The first seasonal ore train from U.S. Steel's Minntac plant to the Port of Escanaba (Michigan) rolls south across the St. Louis River with 200 light-loaded cars (CN 8102 was on the rear and the ex-UP GE was added at Pokegama for the trip south). The port of Escanaba can ship earlier in the season than ice-choked ports along Lake Superior and these pellets will be headed from there to the Gary Works.
