| The sun has almost reached the western horizon as an eastbound intermodal approaches Goffs, California, on its trip across the Mojave Desert. The train is still working upgrade but will soon top the summit at Goffs and begin the descent to the crew change point at Needles and the Colorado River just beyond. |
