As Family Lines started to become an operational reality in the early 1970s, both SCL and L&N established run-through trains that used the A&WP/WofA between Atlanta and Montgomery. For the first few years, SCL trains 215/216 were powered day-after-day with GP40s, but L&N trains 213/214 had more variety. Most common model was - of course - the GP38, followed by the U23B. But L&N also used older geeps and U-boats, including a very occasional U25B, like 1619 on a gray February day.
