A CN local with a nice looking IC GP40R on the point rests next to the classic corner depot in Effingham, IL, while waiting for a CSX local to cross at the diamond just ahead. The Pennsylvania Railroad, as well as the Illinois Central, formerly stopped at the station, which contains three separate buildings. Amtrak still uses the portion of the station that sits along the IC main, but the other two buildings, including the corner building seen in this view, have been neglected.
