The crews exchange waves as Santa Fe trains meet a few miles east of Stockton, California, on September 14th, 1979. The westbound train is led by a pair of GP30s (3231 is on the point) and a U36C, while the eastbound has a pair of Santa Fe GP35s (3306 and 3353) with leased Baltimore & Ohio GP40 4055. (In the late '70s, power-short Santa Fe leased a batch of Chessie System GP40s.)
