Pacing alongside NS 380 on Route 62, NS' Illinois Terminal heritage SD70ACe glides down the Kanawha River with ease, leading a mixed freight consist toward Nitro. While NS heritage locomotives are commonly associated with mountain railroading in West Virginia, lines such as the WV Secondary where traffic volume and tonnage are exceptionally low, heritage locomotives are quite rare. Since the final release of the 20 heritage locomotives in July of 2012, this is the inaugural run of an actual heritage locomotive on the point of a mainline train north of Dickinson.
This is dedicated (with permission) to the skilled and gifted photographer - Chase Gunnoe - who regularly posts and is on staff with RP. I believe he deserves a gallery showcasing his remarkable photos. This is for you Chase! (More great photos to come!)
An attempt to put the best picture of engines that represent each of America's railroads. When a better picture of an engine/type is found, it will be added.
Pace and pan shots of trains from on the ground or in the air. If you're not in the locomotive cab or on-board the train, it's the next best thing to being there.
