Remarks & Notes |
The calendar said that summer hadn't ended yet, but fall has arrived in the Oregon Cascade Mountains where the leaves are turning and the morning fog has moistened the landscape. At 11:33 in the morning the Coast Starlight is emerging from the snowshed between tunnels 12 and 13, just one of the many structures built along the side of these mountains in 1927-1929 during construction of the Natron Cut-off. After the descent it should pass through the town of Oakridge within the hour. |
