Amtrak P42DC 42, decked out in special markings to salute America's military veterans, arrived in Los Angeles in the pre-dawn hours of September 2nd, and then spent time in the shop getting some mechanical work done. The unit operated on one Pacific Surfliner roundtrip on September 11th, and then disappeared again until September 19th, when it was put on display at Los Angeles' Union Station. It was scheduled to be on the point of train #4, the eastbound Southwest Chief, when it departs that same evening, but it wasn't - more mechanical troubles?
Displays of American pride, and spirit! Equipment painted Red, White, and Blue! With an honored salute and tribute to our veterans and troops added too! Patriots can still be found to join this gathering of Patriotic Pride!
An attempt to put the best picture of engines that represent each of America's railroads. When a better picture of an engine/type is found, it will be added.
