Rushin' through Rushland. The New Hope & Ivyland's Baldwin Consolidation #40 hits the grade crossing at Swamp Road in downtown Rushland, PA, passing the old Reading Company Depot, which is no longer in use. Although this spot still sees an occasional freight run, the New Hope's steam excursions seldom come this far south. The line's fall foliage trips are about the only time the 40 will venture this far from New Hope. The operation seen here was a special private photo charter, operated for Lerro Productions, Inc.
Oh the stories these special buildings could tell. Originally the brains of the rails they monitored, working to insure effecient rail service for our nation! A tribute!
